Description

Holland Bloorview experts will lead this session exploring current beliefs related to the diagnosis and treatment of Autism in children.  Questions will be submitted in advance and answers to your burning questions using current research, treatment guidelines, and Ontario resources will be provided.  Join us in strengthening the evidence-based care NPs across Ontario provide for children, adolescents, and their families in the context of ASD. 
 
Objectives:
 
  • Review current hot topics in ASD
  • Ensure participants are aware of best practice guidelines and current research
  • Explore resources available in Ontario for both prescribers and families

SPEAKERS:

MSW Josh Scroggy is a clinical operations manager at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab in Toronto with an interest in children with autism and their families. Josh has experience working with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a behaviour therapist at Geneva Centre and Surrey Place in Toronto. Josh has also worked at Cancer Care Ontario as the team lead for patient engagement. Josh has Masters' degrees in both Social Work and Health Science from the University of Toronto.
 
 
NP-Paeds Psychotherapist Bridget Doan has more than 10 years’ experience as a paediatric mental health nurse practitioner.  At Holland Bloorview NP Doan provides care for children and families with Autism as an MRP in the Psychopharmacology Clinic where she diagnoses comorbid conditions and develops treatment plans including medication and therapy interventions for families across the province.  NP Doan works at Whole Heart Mental Health providing timely access to psychiatric assessments and ongoing medication and psychotherapy support.  NP Doan previously worked at SickKids and McMaster Children’s in their adolescent medicine and mental health programs.   NP Doan completed her Master of Nursing and Paediatric Nurse Practitioner training from the University of Toronto and teaches with Bloomberg’s Centre for Professional Development.
