Perfuse Medtec is the exclusive Canadian distributor of the geko™ family of Muscle Pump Activator medical devices. The geko™ device, a 10g, self-contained, wearable, stimulates the common peroneal nerve. This activates lower leg muscle pumps to increase blood flow up to about 60% of that achieved by walking. Edema is managed, pain is often mitigated, and wounds begin healing. Our landmark trial, published in the International Wound Journal, compared Standard of Care (SOC) with and without the geko™ device in patients with hard to heal venous leg ulcers. The results show that the geko™ device with SOC, doubled the rate of healing vs SOC alone. An independent economic analysis demonstrated significant costs saving. The geko devices also features prominently in the Canadian Consensus Document on the management of venous leg ulcers.
