The Ministry of Long-Term Care is consolidating the Attending Nurse Practitioners Initiative (ANP) and the Long-Term Care Nurse Practitioners Program (LTC NPP) into the Hiring More Nurse Practitioners (HMNP) for LTC program, effective February 1, 2026. Long-term Care Operators were notified of this change on Friday November 21.
Objectives:
- To communicate the purpose and impact of the program consolidation to nurse practitioners
- To answer any questions about this transition and/or the ministry’s nurse practitioner funding
SPEAKERS:
Lauren Egar is the manager of the Staffing Unit in the Strategic Initiatives Branch at the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC). Lauren joined the ministry in 2021 and currently oversees initiatives related to recruitment and retention in long-term care. Lauren has almost 15 years of experience working for the provincial government, and has held various roles in the Ministry of Health and Treasury Board Secretariat.
Marissa Goulart is a Senior Policy Advisor in the Staffing Unit in the Strategic Initiatives Branch at the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC), where she leads the delivery of ministry-funded nurse practitioner programs, and frequently supports policy and regulatory work to better support the LTC sector. Marissa has held various roles in MLTC and has also previously worked in the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services.
Alyssa Drost is a Policy Advisor in the Staffing Unit in the Strategic Initiatives Branch at the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC). Alyssa joined the ministry in 2024 and currently supports research on labour relations, the delivery of ministry-funded nurse practitioner programs, and other policy initiatives related to health human resources in the sector. Prior to joining MLTC, Alyssa received her PhD in Economics from McMaster University, where her research focused on a labour-market analysis of nurses in Ontario, including rates of full-time employment, multiple jobholding, and retention.
Stephanie Arnold is a Team Lead in the Staffing Unit of the Strategic Initiatives Branch at the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC). Stephanie joined the ministry in 2020 and currently leads policy and program initiatives intended to improve recruitment, retention and working conditions in the sector. Prior to joining MLTC, Stephanie held various positions in other ministries (e.g., health, immigration, consumer services) since 2007.
