    The second course in the Certificate in Hospital & Acute Care for Nurse PractitionersCare of the Hospitalized Adult 2 is designed to enhance your clinical acumen in managing the care of acutely ill adult patients in hospital settings.

    This case-based, interactive course provides an in-depth exploration of acute clinical presentations, with a focus on diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic planning. Clinical experts will guide you through complex scenarios involving:

    • Respirology

    • Acid-base and electrolyte imbalances

    • Acute and chronic renal dysfunction

    • Gastrointestinal conditions (e.g., GI bleeding, hepatic issues, severe nausea/vomiting)

    • Mental health and substance use considerations

    Throughout the course, you will refine your skills in differential diagnosis, apply evidence-informed approaches to care, and identify red flags requiring urgent intervention or referral.

    Intended Audience:
    Nurse Practitioners or NP program students seeking to deepen their knowledge and confidence in the hospital and acute care environment.

    While this is the second course in a four-part certificate, it may be taken as a stand-alone offering. Courses can be completed in any order to achieve the full program certificate.
