Care of the Hospitalized Adult 2
September 15 – November 16, 2025 | 9-week Online Course
The second course in the Certificate in Hospital & Acute Care for Nurse Practitioners, Care of the Hospitalized Adult 2 is designed to enhance your clinical acumen in managing the care of acutely ill adult patients in hospital settings.
This case-based, interactive course provides an in-depth exploration of acute clinical presentations, with a focus on diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic planning. Clinical experts will guide you through complex scenarios involving:
-
Respirology
-
Acid-base and electrolyte imbalances
-
Acute and chronic renal dysfunction
-
Gastrointestinal conditions (e.g., GI bleeding, hepatic issues, severe nausea/vomiting)
-
Mental health and substance use considerations
Throughout the course, you will refine your skills in differential diagnosis, apply evidence-informed approaches to care, and identify red flags requiring urgent intervention or referral.
Intended Audience: Nurse Practitioners or NP program students seeking to deepen their knowledge and confidence in the hospital and acute care environment.
While this is the second course in a four-part certificate, it may be taken as a stand-alone offering. Courses can be completed in any order to achieve the full program certificate.
