This webinar will review assessments, overall treatment approach, a focused discussion about evidence and tips for optimizing pharmacotherapy and describe resources for patients and providers. Medication selection, side effect management, drug switching, use of adjuncts, and discontinuation guidance will be discussed. Resources will be provided throughout the session – including assessment tools, talking tips, psychological treatment services, clinical tools, and specialist supports.

Nicole Seymour is an Academic Detailing pharmacist working for the Centre for Effective Practice, covering the Erie St. Clair and the southwest region of Ontario. She works with clinicians to identify and develop evidence-informed, practical, and realistic strategies for enhancing patient care. Since joining the CEP in 2018, Nicole has supported nearly 200 primary care clinicians with 700+ individualized best practice discussions.
Nicole’s past work with London Health Science Centre and Thames Valley Family Health Team and her current position with St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital conferred experience with mental health, nephrology, and geriatrics, and inspired her passion for improving transitions in care.
She recently served as an adjunct associate professor for the University of Waterloo’s Pharmacy School, and she currently supports RxFiles and the National Resource Center for Academic Detailing (NaRCAD). Nicole holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Waterloo and has completed an Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency.
