Description

Objectives:

Patient Ombudsman’s role is to help resolve complaints from current or former patients/residents and caregivers about experiences in Ontario’s public hospitals, long-term care homes, home care, and community surgical and diagnostic centres.

This webinar will provide:

  • A better understanding of Patient Ombudsman’s role and mandate.
  • An overview of the most common complaints that Patient Ombudsman receives, and how the office works with both complainants and health organizations to resolve complaints.
  • How and when it is appropriate to refer patients/caregivers to Patient Ombudsman if they have concerns about their health care experience.

SPEAKER:

Craig Thompson was appointed Patient Ombudsman on March 29, 2021, having first served as the Executive Director since 2017. Craig has more than 30 years of leadership experience working for public and private organizations in health care, design sciences and communications.

Craig is passionate about improving the quality, safety, and experience of health care in Ontario and is actively involved in the Canadian ombuds community, promoting the importance of ombuds in Ontario’s health care system.
